Eaton Rapids Readies for $6.2 Million Medical Center Expansion

Within weeks, the Eaton Rapids Medical Center will break ground on a $6.2 million, 25,000 square foot expansion.

The bulk of the expansion centers around creating more space for the Center’s emergency room patients. The Eaton Rapids Medical Center currently has six emergency room beds.

The 14,000 square foot emergency room expansion will add four beds and create enough space for patients to have private rooms and bedside registration. Right now patients register and then get evaluated.

“We’re changing that up a little bit so we can get people in a bed right away,” says Jennifer Painter with the Eaton Rapids Medical Center.

New space will also be created for additional waiting room space, EMS and ambulance quarters, and future specialty clinics.

The remaining 9,000 square feet encompass a basement that’s being built under the new emergency room space, so off-site Center employees can work at the Center.

The addition to the Eaton Rapids Medical Center is a real community effort. Several local companies have donated funds or resources to get the expansion moving.
