City of East Lansing Will Add Farmer's Market to Downtown Summer Mix

The City of East Lansing is bringing back a farmers market this summer. It will be located in Valley Court Park behind Crunchy’s and Biggby's Coffee in Downtown East Lansing.

“We’ve been planning this for a couple of years,” says Michelle Carlson, events assistant with the City of East Lansing. “We have a committee that includes farmers and residents, and have been trying to think about all the angles. We have a lot of support from the community and they’re excited about it.”

The Sunday market will include Michigan-grown produce only. Carlson says wholesaling will not be allowed.

“We just hope it will bring fresh produce to the community, which is a benefit,” she says. “This will bring people together with the farmers and hopefully will help the local farmers by building up their produce.”

The market is set to open in July and run through October. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Carlson is hoping for at least 20 vendors.
