New Flour Child Bakery Opens Inside Grand Ledge's Red Salamander

Grand Ledge native, Beth Augustine, has been baking forever.

“I like the creativity of it and have a lot of fun doing it," she says. "I get excited about something that wakes me up a little bit.”

And now she’ll be waking up a lot with the opening of her Flour Child Bakery inside the Red Salamander at 902 E. Saginaw Highway in Grand Ledge.

If you brew beer, the Red Salamander is already on your radar, if not, you now know where to find homebrew and brewing supplies.

Why did the Augustine’s choose to open Flour Child inside the Red Salamander?

“It’s on Saginaw which gets lots of traffic and it’s easy to find,” says Terrance Augustine, Beth’s husband who is also running for Eaton County Commissioner in District 3. “We’re also friends with the owners, so it all just made sense.”

The self-taught Augustine is known for her focaccia breads, croissants and turnovers. She bakes everything from scratch and tries to use local produce whenever possible.
