Lansing Reserve Forces and Joint Forces Receive $1.796 for Energy Improvements

The Lansing Reserve Forces Support Center and Joint Forces Headquarters received $1.796 million from the federal government to make energy efficiency improvements to three buildings.

The money will allow the Lansing Reserve Forces Support Center and Joint Forces Headquarters to continue the renovation of several buildings that were part of a National Guard and Military Affairs infrastructure consolidation that occurred several years ago, says Dawn Dancer, spokeswoman for the Michigan State Public Affairs Office.

“We have offices throughout the greater Lansing area including buildings, armory facilities and maintenance shops,” she says. “All of those are in the process of being consolidated to one area.”

That area is near the Capital Region International Airport. Green elements will be a part of the renovations, Dancer says.

The money awarded to the Lansing site is part of $7.85 million distributed by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Fort Custer Training Center in Augusta received $2.25 million to modernize water, sewer and electrical systems and the Camp Grayling Military Training Center received $3.8 million to improve energy efficiency, road improvements and water and sewer systems.
