$400,000 in Transportation Funds Support Manufacturing Expansion

The City of Eaton Rapids has seen extensive growth in the last several years, particularly in its manufacturing sector. As a result, Eaton Rapids is planning new and improved roads to support increased heavy-weight truck traffic.

The city is working with the state on a $400,000 road improvement project that will improve the intersection of Marilin Street and Main Street, and Kinneyville/Spicerville Roads and Main Street.

Dowding Industries uses Marilin Street to access its facilities. The company is in the middle of a $7.15 million expansion. The new infrastructure will allow Dowding to produce more machining transmission housings, components and platforms that are used in the assembly of wind turbines.

Precision Prototype & Manufacturing, Inc. uses the Kinneyville/Spicerville Roads to access its facility, which is undergoing a $5.2 million expansion.

The city is also working with Dowding Industries on generating bond money to create a loop within the complex

“It’s been a really good partnership,” says Bill Lefevere with the City of Eaton Rapids. “It’s worked well for us and we’re really excited about that upgrade.”
