After years of operating her tax business, Grant & Associates, on Lansing’s Eastside, Terry Grant decided to move her business from Michigan Avenue to her 4,500 square foot building on Turner Street in Old Town.
Grant operated her business out of her offices on the 1700 block of Michigan Avenue for 30 years. She says the main reason she moved to Old Town is that her Michigan Avenue building, which was losing parking and included a hard to access upstairs office, made it difficult for some clients to use her services.
“I just decided that we needed to be in an accessible space,” she says. “We have 800 clients and we’re really committed to having a space that’s accessible.”
In November 2008, she moved her business to 1310 Turner St., which also houses Grant’s other business, Goldenrod, a music distribution company.
“The tax business is certainly growing,” Grant says. “There were several new tax bills in 2008 and even the simplest returns have become complex in part.”
