Hemlines Perfect Alterations opened its doors in Lansing's
REO Town neighborhood the Thursday before Halloween last year. Mayor Virg Bernero was present for the

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
And long-time seamstress and business owner, Marilyn Duncan is still celebrating with a Grand Opening sign and ongoing discounts for seniors and veterans.
Aside from being in close proximity to Downtown Lansing, Duncan also appreciates the family atmosphere she has found being in REO Town. “I just joined the Board at the REO Town Commercial Association, and Izzo’s Pizzeria had their Grand Opening last week” says Duncan.
Duncan has been a seamstress for over 20 years, and is now living out her dream of being a small business owner. With her abilities, her clothing alterations range from hemming a pair of pants to more complicated jobs.
“At my old place of employment, if you brought [a leather jacket] in, we’d have to tell you no, we can’t fix it. Here at Hemlines, we can do that sort of thing.”
Duncan is also in the process of getting a web site for Hemlines, along with having a presence on social networking tools like Facebook and Myspace.
Hemlines Perfect Alterations is located at 1202 S. Washington Ave, not far from Oades Hidden Camel.
