Hidden Treasures Shop Plans 1,400 Sq Ft Expansion

Hidden Treasures consignment shop has only been open for eight months, but it’s already undergoing an expansion.

The 12,000 square foot store is adding an additional 1,400 square feet to accommodate the growing number of clothing and furniture donations it receives.

“Once the addition is complete, we’re going to bring more furniture in here,” says Store Manager Tiyah Isom-Morris. “We plan to upgrade the quality of the furniture we sell.”

Hidden Treasures has been open since November 2007 and sells discounted clothing. The company is run by the Lansing Christian School. Many of the proceeds from the store help supplement teacher salaries.

Isom-Morris says revenue was extremely high at the store’s grand opening, but has taken a small dip this summer. Isom-Morris says it’s normal for retail to see a decline in the summer.

In July, Hidden Treasures served 2,231 customers.
