New $30,000 Exhibit Added to Impression 5 Science Center in Downtown Lansing

The Impression 5 Science Center is a popular spot for fourth and fifth graders, but now it’s got a special place for the littler kids as well.

Impression 5 recently opened a $30,000, 1,100 square foot “impression room” specifically designed for kids ages 0-4. The new room is run by a child development expert and is designed to teach young kids and their parents about different stages of childhood development.

The room also has several hands-on, science-based activities, including a tyke-sized water table. The water table (there’s already one for older kids) teaches kids about water and its movement.

Impression 5's Executive Director Erik Larson says he believes the room will help kids get interested in science at an early age.

“This might give them a greater opportunity to move into a science career,” he says.
