A $34 million bond that passed last spring is giving
Grand Ledge Schools a new look starting with the high school, which is
undergoing a significant renovation.
Four new classrooms are being added to the Grand Ledge
High School. They’ll be ready for students this fall.
The improvement offers “a huge benefit to the community as a whole, because
it keeps the community strong,” says Jennifer Bradford-Vernon with Grand Ledge
Public Schools. “It’s also a huge benefit to the
students. It’s an investment in the children and the future of the community.
It gives children the ability to compete in a global marketplace.”
Delta Center Elementary is also getting a new classroom.
Grand Ledge Public Schools just laid the foundation for the new classroom, which should be finished this year.
Some additional projects include replacing all 1,100
district computers, creating “smart” classrooms that include multiple teaching
technologies, and increasing security measures.
“These are steps that bring us closer to maintaining
excellent educational opportunities here in Grand Ledge,” Bradford-Vernon says.
Everything will be finished by 2010.
