Metalist International of Lansing Awarded $450,000 MSU Contract

The Lansing manufacturing company, Metalist International, received a $450,000 contract from Michigan State University (MSU) to build a 250-ton hydraulic press for the university.

AnMSU mechanical engineering research lab will use the press to helpstudents learn about the advantage of using “thermo-hydro forming,”a revolutionary process  that adds heat and fluid to the stamping process, reducing imperfections in metals and making them more reliable.

“Buildingthe 250-ton press is just one step in what I hope will be an ongoingrelationship, where my company can bring the fruits of cutting-edgeresearch into the manufacturing marketplace,” says Metalist's CEO, Ed Reeser.

Metalist is the largestindependent press rebuilding and repair company in the U.S. The new MSU press should be finished by July.
