October Moon Moves to Bigger 1,800 Sq. Ft. Old Town Space

One of Old Town Lansing’s favorite shops, October Moon, is moving down the street to accommodate an expansion that will double the shop’s floor space.

“We’re expanding, big time. It’s fun,” says October Moon's owner, Aura Ozbourn.

Ozbourn is moving from her 1209 Turner Street location to 119 East Grand River, which is just west of Turner Street. The new address is 1,800 square feet—double the size of her Turner Street location. It also has outdoor space, in the event that she wants to expand her garden product line.

Ozbourn and her family live in a loft above the 119 East River address, making the move extremely convenient.

“My whole six-second commute to work was killing me,” she says. “It’s the old fashioned way of living and we’re bringing it back,” Ozbourn says about living and working in the same building.

Haze Gallery, which is moving into October Moon’s old space, used to be on the first floor of Ozbourn’s building.

People come from all over the state to visit October Moon, which is a funky store that includes everything from fine, Italian papers and French soaps to handbags.

“The store is always reflexive of where I am in my life,”says Ozbourn, who increased her baby line in conjunction with the birth of her son.

Ozbourn says she’s happy with the expansion, but doesn’t want to get too big. She wants to make sure that the shop always reflects her lifestyle. The new location will open in the middle of June.
