MSU Technologies is moving from its 3,200 square foot spot in the MBI International building to a 6,600 square foot space on the southeast side of the Technology Innovation Center (TIC) in East Lansing.
MSU Technologies helps commercialize technologies. Moving it to a physical location next to the TIC, which fosters new and growing technology companies, brings talent and innovation together.
“Being across the street from campus in the East Lansing business district gives us the best of both worlds, as we will be easily accessible to both researchers and businesses,” says Mike Poterala, executive director of MSU Technologies. “We appreciate the tremendous support we have received from both the university and from the City of East Lansing, and look forward to working with our new neighbors in the Technology Innovation Center.”
The space is bare, but will be renovated by the time MSU Technologies moves in this summer. MSU Technologies expects to have 20 employees in its new location.
The TIC is above Barnes and Noble in downtown East Lansing. The entire third floor of the building is 24,000 square feet and intended to foster economic growth. With the TIC and MSU Technologies, it’s about halfway full. A restaurant incubator is one of several ideas the city has for the remaining space.
“We are looking at a 2,000 square foot training center that would kind of be a combination of a training and events facility,” says Tim Dempsey, with the City of East Lansing.
