Lansing Community College’s (LCC) radio station, WLNZ 89.7, is rockin' Lansing’s City Market.
In April, the station opened a sales office in the City Market. The sales office sells LCC arts tickets, t-shirts and tickets for special events.
“We basically wanted to have the station and college more visible in the community,” says Station Manager Dave Downing. “Being on campus in the basement of a building is not really that visible. We wanted to have a physical presence in some place that’s close proximity to the campus and has ties with the community. It’s just another way to help market the station and college community.”
To support local artists, WLNZ 89.7 has started a Friday concert series. Every Friday from noon to 1 p.m., local artists play at the City Market. The music is also broadcast on the station as well.
“We intend to do it until people get tired of it,” Downing says.
The sales office is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
