Developer Pat Gillespie with the
Gillespie Group is laying the groundwork for an additional $9 million investment in the
Prudden Place project off of Saginaw Avenue in Lansing.
The second phase of the Prudden Place project is a part of a collaboration to create up-to-date, urban-style lofts on the site of an abandoned 25-acre automobile plant. Gillespie will add 48 new units along with a parking lot to the 72 units that have already been constructed on the site.
One of the most significant things about the existing 801 to 1438 square foot units is that they're occupied by young professionals and
Cooley Law school students, says Gillespie. "It's the kind of stuff you see in Chicago and Minneapolis and other cities that are popping."
Rockford Construction built the first phase of the Prudden Place project, but a second phase builder hasn’t been chosen. Gillespie plans to break ground on the 620 May Street project this winter.
