Busy E.L. Yoga Center Splits Off Massage Services

The popular East Lansing Yoga Center has been offering both yoga and massage for years; however, the massage component is now a separate business, owned and operated by Julie O’Day.

O’Day opened Oasis Health and Wellness six months ago, after Yoga Center Owner Ruth Fisk, agreed to separate the massage and yoga portions of the business.

“Having that and my yoga business was just getting to be a bit too much,” Fisk says.

The two women share the 5,400 square foot space. Fisk’s yoga studios take up two-thirds of the 1780 East Grand River location, and Oasis Health and Wellness takes up the remaining third.

The Yoga Center recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Fisk says that even though fitness yoga is declining in popularity, her own traditional yoga business is doing well. Traditional yoga lostsome of its followers when fitness yoga became a health club trend.
