Lansing First Fridays collaboration to bring fun to the Greater Lansing area beginning April 1

Like a lot of great ideas, the upcoming Lansing First Fridays began with an idea that was too big for any one organization to pull off alone.

“It was a brainchild of CATA,” says Christina Campbell, Account Executive with Pace and Partners. “They brought it to us and said, ‘How would we get this going?’”

The proposal was to coordinate with organizations throughout the Greater Lansing area to make the first Friday of every month “the” night for fun in the region. CATA would provide the transportation, but many more organizations would have to be involved to bring the fun.
Pace and Partners, CATA’s marketing firm, began by reaching out the Lansing Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, which is where the idea began to spring into action.

“They thought it was a terrific idea and we all thought it would be a good economic booster,” Campbell says.

So do a lot of other Lansing folks, it turns out. To date, participating organizations include Team Lansing Foundation, Cooley Law School, Citadel Broadcasting, Skyline Mobile, Adams Outdoor Advertising, the Board of Water and Light, the Old Town Commercial Association, Downtown Lansing Inc. and more

“The list is growing every day,” Campbell says.

“I think its everyone’s faith in the Lansing area,” she says of the widespread interest in the event. “It’s the opportunity to collaborate and rally together that it so exciting.”

Lansing First Fridays are project to begin April 1st. CATA will offer free trolley service from 5:30 to 2:30am and free rides system-wide beginning at 7:00pm.
