Linda Lynch and her 10 employees at the East Lansing-based KI Technology Group have created a program they believe is the first of its kind in the Capital region. It’s called the KI Computer Club and a membership could be a great holiday gift.
Here’s how club membership works. Payment of a monthly fee gets residential members tech support before problems occur, and most of the time without need to move their computers.
“For the last three years, we have been offering proactive services to our business clients. Until now, our residential clients have not been able to take advantage of these same services,” Lynch says.
Lynch used focus groups to help design the new program. The number one computer complaint is related to the declining speed of people’s systems.
“In fact, with regular maintenance, this problem can be easily solved,” Lynch says.
KI will run all the maintenance tasks for club members and begin monitoring their systems for common problems. In 80 percent of cases, systems will be accessed remotely, eliminating the need to haul parts anywhere, saving time and money.
“If we can’t resolve the problem remotely, you will receive priority service and discounted rates, whether you choose in store or on site service. And we will know exactly what your system needs before we begin the job,” Lynch says.
For $19.95 a month, members get antivirus software and regular scans; if they get spyware, clean up is included. For $34.95 a month, they get the above plus three hours a year of extra assistance.
Lynch knows people who are the tech support for their parents or neighbors.
“This would be a great gift for them,” she says.
