City of East Lansing unveils new development website to spur economic activity

Finding out what’s next for East Lansing just got a lot easier. The city recently launched a new website and related newsletter highlighting current development projects, incentives and community amenities and interactive tools for prospective and existing businesses.

“We wanted to promote the economic development and business development programs available in our community,” says East Lansing Community & Economic Development Administrator Lori Mullins. “We also saw a need to better connect with entrepreneurs in our growing business sector.”

Mullins explains that the site will act as one-stop place for business owners or commercial real estate agents to find information helpful in assessing options for locating businesses.

The development of the site was an in-house effort that spanned several City of East Lansing departments. City staff will maintain the site with the exception of the “site selection tool,” a program to which the city has a subscription

The site officially launched in February, and thus far the feedback has been positive.

"We have had very good response to the website,” Mullins says. “I am very pleased by the number of local businesses that have expressed their support for this effort.”

The city hopes to continue to develop the site to meet the needs of the business community.

“The City is looking for feedback on those items other tools that could improve the value of the site to businesses and realtors,” says Mullins.

To offer feedback on the new site, visitor may contact the City of East Lansing’s Planning and Development Department.
