The Wharton Center and the Ingham County Intermediate School District are one of only 14 education/arts partnerships in the country to receive the prestigious
Kennedy Center Partners in Education designation.
Representatives from the program select the best performance art/educational partnerships in the country and give them resources to help train area teachers in the arts.
Ingham County Intermediate arts teachers and Wharton Center professionals use the program to help teachers earn continuing education arts credits. The teachers then take the skills to their classrooms.
“The Wharton Center’s mission is to become a statewide resource for the performing arts in Michigan, and it’s really crucial that part of that is arts education,” says Debbie Gift with the Wharton Center.
The next education series, which includes information about engaging kinesthetic learners in art curriculum, is January 16.
