Entrepreneur magazine listed East Lansing’s own Biggby Coffee on its annual 
Franchise 500 list, ranking Biggby Coffee 225th of the 500 listed companies.
Biggby’s ranking rose 34 points from last year’s spot. Entrepreneur magazine chooses companies based on financial strength and stability, growth rate and system size.
“The essence of it really is that it’s a heck of a business model and our operators are doing a great job,” says Biggby president Mike McFall about the listing.
Biggby’s first location opened on Michigan Avenue in East Lansing in 1995. At the time, Biggby was known as Beaners. In 1998, Biggby owners decided to start franchising the company. Now they have 86 stores with 70 more under contract. By the end of the year Biggby will be in 11 states.
