Okemos-Based IT Firm Helping Utility Giant Reduce Environmental Impact

Okemos-based IT company Decision Support Professionals (DSPro) is working with utility giant Consumers Energy to reduce its environmental impact by more effectively using its data storehouses.

By using technology to project where Consumers Energy’s largest residential, commercial and industrial demands will be in the future, the utility can more effectively provide services, says DSPro owner, Mike Thomas.

“These projects have helped streamline our planning process and enhance our energy projections,” says Jon Allan with Consumers Energy. “With DSPro’s help, we have been taking a much closer look at where and when we’ll need to deliver power, and to integrate tools such as demand management, which has a strong potential for lowering our costs and helping customers control their bills.”
