"Be the E" Marks 40th Anniversary of Earth Day in the Capital Region

Tomorrow, April 22, is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. With the help of many local, state and national stakeholders, Lansing will be celebrating with three days of festivities through the launch of the "Be the E" Campaign (Earth Day Lansing).

The campaign was created to give Earth Day "a fresh face, draw new people into the environmental movement and inspire everyone to take positive action for the planet."

"We believe that this simple, fun, easy to remember "Be the E" campaign will have a lasting impact on the region and [enable a whole new generation to engage] in meaningful and sustainable action for a greener future," says Erin Slayter, Owner of The Sweaty Mouse—one of the sponsors and organizers of the Earth Day initiative. In addition to The Sweaty Mouse, Earth Day Lansing is also sponsored by Schupan Recycling, Touch Audio, and Tri-Terra.

"Through some incredible partnerships and in-kind sponsorships, the greater Lansing region will be treated to some fantastic activities and events that are mission-based and action-oriented," adds Slayter.

Aside from providing entertainment, the campaign proceeds will also contribute to the community, support food banks in the region, donate clothes to Goodwill Industries and give away 2,000 Michigan White Pine tree seedlings and organic recycled reusable tote bags.
