Capital Area Michigan Works! is restructuring its popular Fall Job Expo to better accommodate the more than 2,000 jobs seekers and the more than 55 employers who attend the event.
“It’s really broad in terms of industry,” says Kate Tykocki with Capital Area Michigan Works!. “All jobs share the fact that they require a higher level of skills and more education than ever before.”
Tykocki says this year, Capital Area Michigan Works! is better preparing job seekers for the fair.
“We’re implementing a professional job code,” she says. “If they’re not properly dressed, it’s not appropriate to meet with a business.”
The job fair targets those who need jobs and those who are looking for a promotion through a new job. Employers from all different sectors attend the event, including health care, tech and manufacturing.
“People have degrees from all over country, but if they live in the greater Lansing area, they can see what’s out there," she says. "It gives businesses a chance to connect with those people."
The Fall Job Expo will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the Lansing Center ballroom. Employer registrations are due on Sept. 19.
