Westside Lansing-based construction company, Custom Built Inc., has only been in business for two years, but every year sales have increased by 20 to 30 percent.
The
first big sales increase came when Custom Built owners and brothers,
Chris Scott and Matt Flory, merged their existing construction
companies.
“Over the last four years, both
of our businesses combined saw at least an increase of 20 to 30 percent
every year,” Flory says. “Then we merged, so that was a big increase in
total sales, and we still see a 20 to 30 percent increase every year.”
The
company specializes in custom decks, patios, kitchens and sunrooms.
They have roughly 10 employees and expect to add at least three new
employees this year.
“I would attribute the
growth and the success in a market like this to continued demand for
remodeling,” Flory says, adding that regardless of state or national
housing markets, people remodel their homes.
“With
new homes being down right now, the fact is that people are staying
where they are, and rather than moving every three to five years,
they’re remodeling their homes,” he says.
