As the founder of the Lansing-area branch of the regional lobbying firm, Midwest Strategy Group, Nicole Nystrom was running a one woman show when she opened her firm a year and a half ago.
But, by Nov. 1, she will have seven employees.
“My goal in terms of growth is to be one of the largest
and best lobbying firms in Lansing,” Nystrom says.
Nystrom worked for one of Lansing’s biggest lobbying and
law firms, Dykema Gossett, before opening Midwest Strategy Group’s Lansing
location. She says she wanted to be a part of a multi-state lobbying firm
that still has a hometown feel.
When she left, she took a few of her clients with her.
Now Midwest Strategy Group offers services to 25 clients.
“I added clients right away and we’ve more than doubled
in the first year,” she says.
With the addition of three employees in the last year, she hopes
to expand her office space in the next year.
