High Tech Start Up Express Has a Good Year, Looks Forward to Growth

High Tech Start Up Express, a start-up tenant in the East Lansing Technology and Innovation (TIC), did well in 2009 and is looking to continue expanding in 2010.

“Business has actually been great,” says Brian Town, High Tech Start Up Express partner. “We’re surprised by how good business has been in this economy. Everyone has a web site, but they still want optimization of that web site. I think there’s still a need out there for people who can build web sites and direct them to web sites.”

The services High Tech Start Up Express offers are diverse as its five-person staff, which specializes in web site design, training, financial projects and legal services.

“The whole idea is that we want to help high tech start-ups in the Mid-Michigan area with whatever they need,” he says.

Despite having other full time jobs, the High Tech Start Up Express team is doing well and gradually growing, adding statewide clients to its repertoire. Town says the ultimate goal is for the five-person team to work at High Tech Startup Express full time.

“The tech center has been a great environment,” he says. “It’s a really nice place to bring clients, and it was really that initiative (the launching of the TIC) that really got us to start the business.”
