Lansing Web History-Erasing Company Helps Area Grads Get Jobs

Hype Yourself owner and web site designer John Addis has developed a web-history erasing service he says helps college graduates get jobs.

Hype Yourself erases Web history linking a person's Internet usage to political, sexual or drug-related pages.

This is important because more than 60 percent of employers do Google searches on job candidates before they hire them, Addis says. When a candidate is linked to web sites that might make the company look bad, the company pitches the person's resume.

"The point of the service is to help people get jobs and rise up among the other candidates," Addis says. "Michigan has such a competitive job market right now. Anything you can do to put yourself at the top of the pack makes a huge difference."

Hype Yourself prices are determined on a client-by-client basis. Addis, of Lansing, also designs web sites and teaches technology courses at Baker College.
