Inc. magazine recently included Lansing-based mail marketing company Innovative Computer Services (ICS) on its list of the top 5,000 growth companies. ICS received this honor for experiencing 15 to 20 percent growth over the last couple of years.
When ICS was founded in 1990, the owners focused on direct mail marketing
through traditional mail. As the Internet grew and traditional direct mail marketing became more expensive, ICS started direct marketing via the Internet.
ICS works with major advertisers to help their clients send advertisements to potential customers via e-mail and direct mail pamphlets.
"Mostly, we've stayed here because of the quality of life and the technology-based workforce in this area," says Ken Orr, senior vice president of ICS. "We like to travel to Chicago and L.A., but the workforce here is solid."
ICS started with five employees in 1990. ICS now has 43 employees with plans to hire four to five new employees over the next year.
