The human resources department at Lansing's Jackson National Life has already received nearly 400 resumes since the company announced it would be hiring 150 people.
The company is closing its Denver customer service centers, offering to move any employees to the new service center in Okemos, although Tim Padot, company
spokesman, expects few Coloradans to take the offer.
Jackson National offers subsidized day care on its Okemos campus that may be used by the new service center employees; a lower-priced in-house cafeteria service; 401(k) match up to six percent of salary; dental, vision, life and health insurance; an annual bonus averaging from five to seven percent of salary; and tuition reimbursement. Furthermore, up to $5,000 of each dependent’s college tuition is paid each year.
Selected employees will start work immediately, but it could take nine months to fill all 150 positions.
The new Lansing jobs will be added at the company’s former corporate headquarters building, near Pennsylvania Avenue and Miller Road in south Lansing.
Padot says there were a number of reasons to close the Denver service centers. For one thing, the cost of living is higher in Denver, so the company can lower its cost of doing business by moving the center here.
