Smooch Project Kicks Off World Tour at Old Town's Perspective 2

What does a young woman in Old Town have in common with an old Irishman? According to Bonnie Fournier, their acceptance of love and affection.

As part of Fournier’s traveling photo opportunity, she wants to capture a symbolic moment of those feelings on camera: the kiss.

For the last four years, The Smooch Project has taken place in Minneapolis, Fournier’s hometown. Now on the road, she hopes to capture 10,000 different smooches on camera from around the world. Perspective 2 in Lansing's Old Town was her first stop outside of Minneapolis and her 82nd shoot for the project.

More than 90 people had their picture taken with someone they love: spouse, partner, friend or even pet, says Perspective 2 marketing and outreach specialist Katie Koerner.

Fournier’s work "really shows that regardless of social, economic and racial differences, people all want to share their love with each other,” says Koerner. “Old Town was a great place to capture that.”

So far, Fournier has collected about 2,700 photos and stopped in Old Town on her way to Detroit. Future shoots are also scheduled in Ireland and Israel.

“It’s really cool she kicked off a world tour right here in Old Town,” says Koerner.

All photos from the project will be posted on the Smooch Project website.
