The Michigan State University (MSU) Land Policy Institute
(LPI) will use a $6 million W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant to examine policies
and economic incentives that are used by state and local governments to drive
economic growth.
“When you’re talking about attracting economic
development, you need to take a look at what’s being done and establish
parameters around how to best use your resources,” says Catharine Hansford with
the LPI.
The LPI will continue to look at how regions can act as
an economic assets; how they can attract talent to new economy jobs; and how
transportation and renewable energy plans can help regions grow.
“Educating policy makers and helping the community
understand how to thrive is really a focus for us,” Hansford says.
