Okemos-based Online Marketing Firm Hosts Contest for Nonprofits

Okemos-based on-line marketing firm, Netvantage Marketing, is inviting Michigan nonprofits to compete for six months of search engine optimization services and Web analytics.

“Now that we’ve got a few clients under our belt, we thought it would be a good opportunity to help out,” says Adam Henige, managing partner of Netvantage Marketing. The Okemos-based marketing company launched earlier this year.

Netvantage will provide keyword selection, link building, article writing and submission and coding recommendations to the winning nonprofit. Additionally, Netvantage will perform free Web analytics consulting to help the organization better understand how its site is working, and what can be done to improve its performance.

“To be a successful organization these days requires a strong Internet presence, and just having a Web site isn’t enough,” Henige says. “If you can’t be found by search engines, not many people are going to find your site.  It’s a lot like how people don’t remember phone numbers anymore; they put the numbers in their phone once and then just search by name. Except in this instance, everyone’s using one phone: Google. If Google doesn’t have your number, no one is going to call.”

Netvantage will take applications until August 13. The winner will be announced September 1.

“Especially in this area, a lot of these nonprofit organizations are really underserved,” Henige says. “Even small businesses seem to struggle with marketing themselves online. If they take the time to develop a grant for Web site, many times it’s unused because they don’t have the time or expertise for development.”
