Lansing-Based Rossman Group, Pace & Partners Grab 18 of 30 PACE Awards

Out of 30 PACE achievement awards given to public relations groups in the eight surrounding counties, more than half were claimed by two Lansing firms this year.

The Rossman Group, at 920 N. Washington Ave., took seven awards, including the prestigious Best of Show. Pace & Partners, at 1223 Turner St., took 11.

The PACE Awards were given April 22 by the Central Michigan chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Entries were judged by the Toledo, Ohio PRSA chapter.

The Rossman Group, led by Kelly Rossman-McKinney, won the top honor with its campaign for CureMichigan, supporting the successful ballot proposal to expand embryonic stem cell research laws. The company is celebrating 20 years in business and has 35 clients from across the state, many of them associations. Its other awards included campaigns for a Michigan Comprehensive Energy Package, and the Detroit Zoo ballot initiative.

“The PACE Awards have always been a significant event for our firm,” said Rossman McKinney. “While we’re proud of our awards—and believe me, the hardware will be on display—we’re just as gratified by the outstanding partnerships we have developed with all of our clients.”

Pace & Partners, at 1223 Turner St., is led by Dennis Pace, president of the 30-year-old firm. Its awards covered varied accounts, ranging from the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning, a division of the Michigan State Police and Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA), to Ferris State University and the Great Lakes Fishery Trust.

A statement on the Pace & Partners web site captures the spirit of the winners:
“All marketing failures are alike. All are boring.”
