The Lansing-based network integration firm Velocity Information Technology Services recently bought Pardee Network Solutions, allowing the company to
expand its services and employee base.
Velocity focuses on the high tech, managed services
industry, including application hosting, managed services, professional services
and hardware and software.
The merger will allow Velocity to build a new data
center which it will use to manage all business applications
for its customers.
Velocity co-owner Kent Gartside says one great thing
about the state’s rough economy is that it forces business owners to look at how they
do business. Many owners realize they can save money by consolidating network
services, which is great for Velocity’s business.
“You can hang out and be busy complaining, or you can
figure out how people think,” says Gartside about re-working his company’s
business model to increase sales.
By the end of the year, the company will add at least two
more employees. Gartside says employee expansion will continue with the
construction of the new data center.
