Okemos-Based Playmakers Sees Sales Increase 12 Percent

Playmakers, Okemos’ well-known, family-operated running and outdoor store, saw sales increase by 12 percent last year, and expects to see at least a 10 percent increase this year.

“We have grown in the last couple of years,” says Playmakers' owner, Curt Munson. “A big part of that is that, in our industry, health and fitness are really hot topics right now, and running has been really strong.”

Munson also attributes the sales increase to good customer service and continual product updates.

“Our business is better than it’s ever been,” Munson says.

The company last expanded its physical space in 2002, when it moved from a 6,400 square foot location to its current 18,000 square foot location.
