Rossman Group Celebrates 20 Years, Expands to Detroit Market

One of Lansing’s top pubic relations companies, The Rossman Group, has hit the 20-year mark, a milestone that was celebrated with three top state PR awards.

The Rossman Group took three awards at the annual PACE Awards luncheon, giving the firm yet another opportunity to add mid-Michigan’s top PR awards to its collection.

The Rossman Group has won more than 85 PACE awards since 1990. The company won a first place Pinnacle Award for its work on the Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) holiday ad. Rossman also earned an excellence award and an achievement award for its work on the 2007 BWL Chili Cook-Off and Lansing Community College's (LCC) New Leadership Slate, respectively.

When Kelly Rossman-McKinney started The Rossman Group 20 years ago, the Lansing PR market was very small.

“Now there’s competition all over the place,” Rossman-McKinney says. “It’s very energizing and comforting to see so many at an event like this now.”

Growth in the PR market has forced The Rossman Group to be more selective about what it enters in the PACE awards.

“We got more judicious about what we entered. We hate to lose, but we love the competition,” Rossman-McKinney says.  “In the end, we love to see the bounty of fabulous work out there.”

Rossman-McKinney says she plans to continue expanding. The Rossman Group is currently adding clients in Detroit.
