New publications are popping up all over Mid-Michigan, broadening residents’ access to music, culture, development and women’s issues.
In September, the owners of the Greater Lansing Business Monthly will contribute another publication to the Mid-Michigan market. Greater Lansing Business Monthly publisher Chris Holman and Don Loding are launching SPORT magazine, a monthly publication and on-line resource for all local sports.
“Lansing is consumed with sports and there’s a niche that needs to be filled,” says Jack Ebling, managing editor of SPORT. “We’ll be talking about Michigan sports. We’ll talk about all aspects of sports in Mid-Michigan from college all the way down to the youngest club level, Special Olympics and sports medicine.”
Ebling says SPORT will keep the interest of athletes, coaches, teachers and fans.
“If you talk about sports at lunch and if you talk about sports after work, you’re going to want to pick up this magazine,” he says. “Who it isn’t designed for may be a better question to answer.”
The first 48-page issue will be released in September. Like the Greater Lansing Business Monthly, SPORT will have an online presence.
Loding is the publisher of SPORT. He says the SPORT team includes a variety of talented freelancers, but will have two to three full time employees. SPORT will initially share office space with the Greater Lansing Business monthly.
