Symbiosis International of Okemos has long been pointed to as a growth company. In 1997, “InfoWorld” recognized Symbiosis as one of the top ten innovators in the nation. In 2005, the State of Michigan placed Symbiosis on its list of 50 second-stage entrepreneurial companies to watch in 2005.
This year, Symbiosis will continue to blaze ahead. Having already added three staff members in 2008, Symbiosis plans to add several more positions by the end of the year.
“We invest very much in our employees,” says the president of Symbiosis, G. Umakanth. “We train them in any way they want to learn.”
Symbiosis employees are offered a generous benefits package that includes tuition reimbursement, education financing and an innovation incentive, which is a financial award given to employees who find innovative ways to solve clients’ problems.
“We hope that we will be able to retain MSU (Michigan State University) students,” he says. They have lots of talent and lots of ideas.”
Symbiosis is a systems integration and software consulting company and has developed systems for the Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) and the State of Michigan among many others. Symbiosis does business throughout the United States.
From 2001 to 2005, the company’s stock value doubled.
“Our hope is that this growth will be continued,” Umakanth says.
