MSU Invests $35,000 in Technology to Connect Talent With Research Needs

A $35,000 computer database created at Michigan State University (MSU) will connect students with campus research opportunities.

The “Venture” program is a one-of-a-kind, interactive database that allows professors and faculty to post projects at any time. The university listing project also allows students to look for and apply for postings on-line.

“The key is we’re giving students a direction to go rather than saying, ‘Here, go find a research opportunity,’” says Korine Steinke with MSU’s Office of the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education.

Students that can’t find research projects that fit their needs can instead define the type of project they’re looking for, and when a project fitting that description is posted, the student will be notified by email.
