Sparrow Hospital of Lansing Benefits From New Digital Data System

Any qualified medical person assisting a patient at Sparrow Health Systems will now have that patient’s entire medical history at their fingertips, thanks to a state of the art technology Lansing's Sparrow Hospital recently purchased for its staff.

The Emergency Department Information System (EDIS), a new Web-based records system, gives medical professionals access to a patient’s records at all times.

Kathy Mace, applications analyst with Sparrow Health Systems, says the new system will save time and potentially save lives.

Any time a patient is seen by a doctor or nurse, medications, ailments and medical problems will be entered into the system, allowing the next doctor to have immediate access to their records.

“What it does is allow all of the documents to be completed on a computer, which means it’s basically at everyone’s fingertips in the department,” Mace says.
