TechSmith Opens Office in Japan; Products Used By 99 Percent of Fortune 500

Okemos-based TechSmith Corp., a provider of screen capture and recording software for individual and professional use, has opened an office in Japan.

“This will help us further our two-way communication with our customers and partners so that we can continue to develop products that meet our customers’ needs and expectations in the Japanese market," says Bill Hamilton, TechSmith president and founder.

TechSmith’s products include Snagit, Camtasia Studio, Camtasia Relay, Jing, Morae, and Screencast.com, and claims over nine million users worldwide.

According to Hamilton, the company’s main focus for the new Japan office is to increase its sales and overall presence in the Asian market and expand operations in Japan, China, Korea and Australia.

In conjunction with the opening of the new office, the company has also released its Japanese version of Camtasia Studio 6. The product allows customers to create HD-quality videos to reach audiences online, portable media devices or online video-sharing sites.

In addition to Japan, TechSmith promotes and markets its products in the United States, France, Germany, United Kingdom and Korea. Its products are sold in 180 countries through online direct download from its web site and through a network of distributors and reseller partners in more than 50 countries.

Founded in 1987, TechSmith products are used by 99 percent of Fortune 500 companies, Hamilton says.
