Okemos-based TechSmith Corp. is donating $2 million worth of software to Michigan schools. The company is the world’s leading provider of screen capture and recording software.
“We believe that education is going to be the key to economic recovery in Michigan,” says Dave McCollum, education evangelist at TechSmith. “Our software gives both teachers and students the opportunity to integrate technology into the existing curriculum, as well as extending the learning experience outside of the classroom.”
The TechSmith Michigan K-12 Software Grant Program includes licenses to the company’s most popular products and is open to all Michigan K-12 educational institutions and educators. Interested schools and teachers are asked to provide a plan for how they might implement the use of the products to improve or enhance their existing curriculum. TechSmith's products are already widely adopted by the K-12 and higher education communities.
“A great benefit of this donation program for TechSmith comes from the innovation that we’ll see as a result of getting our software in the hands of these great teachers and students all around Michigan,” adds McCollum.
