Lansing Community College Seeks IT Trainers, Paying Up to $75 Per Hour

Lansing Community College’s (LCC) business contracts are growing.

The two-year college is looking for information technology trainers to beef up its pool of adjunct faculty that handles business clients throughout the Capital region.

It is Sheila Fink’s job to place the trainers for the college’s Business and Community Institute (BCI), and demand is outstripping her supply.

A person skilled in Oracle, or .Net can make as much as $75 an hour. Other software trainers might be paid $50 an hour, Fink says. Topics also include Java, Unix/Linux, SQL and more.

The work hours vary, depending on client needs. In some cases, the trainer might be doing a 40-hour class over a week, or a person might work one week a month throughout the year.

Companies within a 90-mile radius of the Downtown Lansing campus contract with BCI to provide training. It’s Fink’s job to place the trainers.

Trainers are needed in other topics, too, such as skilled trades like welding, human resources management, alternative energy, automotive and plastics.

Fink says applicants should have experience in a field and training capabilities, but not necessarily academic credentials.

Fink can be reached at 517-483-5202.
