Two Men and a Truck's Total Cancer-Fighting Donations Approach $250,000

The American Cancer Society has $30,672 in new money thanks to South Lansing-based Two Men and a Truck. The nation’s only franchised moving company has supported the cancer society as its national charity since 2000.

This year's donation brings the total contributions to $249,237.

"We are so grateful for our partnership with Two Men and a Truck," says Kelly Powell, director of the Capital Area Service Center for the American Cancer Society. "We are so thankful for companies like Two Men and a Truck that realize cancer never sleeps, so we must keep up the fight."

Giving back to the community is part of Two Men and a Truck’s core values, says Mary Ellen Sheets, company founder.

In the company's first year of operations, she made $1,000 in profit. She divided that money up and distributed it to 10 different local charities.

In addition to supporting those same charities today, 10 cents of every move is donated to the American Cancer Society.

"Supporting the local communities where we work is how we do business," says  Sheets. “We are proud of our history of giving and that all our locations support that mission. The American Cancer Society does amazing work and we are thrilled to continue to support its research and programs."
