The Capital Region Airport Authority and developer Pat Gillespie have reached a $50,000 agreement designed to help the airport move its 120-acre development forward.
According to excerpts from the article:
The
Capital Region Airport Authority last week authorized the airport's
executive director to sign a lease agreement with East Lansing-based
Gillespie Group to use airport land for a nearly 50,000-square-foot
building.
Capital Region International
Airport Executive Director Robert Selig said the project is a step
toward developing nearly 120 acres of airport land for industrial and
warehouse use.
"We're fairly confident, and
I think the Gillespie Group is too, that once we put up one building
and have tenants in it, it's going to recruit a lot of interest," Selig
said.
The facilities are key to the
airport's strategy to grow its air cargo operations. Capital Region
International Airport recently opened customs operations for passenger
and cargo service to foreign countries.
