East Lansing businesses that have been blocked by construction say their losses were only temporary and customers are coming back now that construction season is nearly over.
"The loss in business, fortunately, has only been temporary. The lunchtime customers came back, slowly but surely, and weekend business picked up as well," said Bassam Mahmoud, the Palestinian-born owner of Sultan’s Place in the Hannah Shopping Center. What he likes best about this country is the flexibility of Americans. "They adapt easily to things, even hard ones,' he said. 'I knew they would eventually adapt to this as well."
