BluesFest Increases Foot Traffic for New Old Town Businesses

The recent BluesFest gave many new Old Town businesses their first taste of what Old Town’s popular outdoor music festivals can do to boost foot traffic.

Organizers of the two-day festival expected to draw 20,000 people, compared with 15,000 last year.

Terry Terry, festival co-founder and president of the Old Town Business and Art Development Association, likens the gathering to a "community party."

"It's been phenomenal," he said. "It's a place for people to come together and make some new friends. We have a diverse audience in every way."

Haze Hotwagner, owner of Haze Art Gallery, 1220 Turner Street, said her shop checked with vendors before the festival to ensure they were stocked.
