Two Week Kids College Program Puts Future Scientists in Full-size Hovercrafts

For two weeks, the Kids College at Michigan State University (MSU) gave future scientists in the area an opportunity to play with experiments, including a life-sized hovercraft.

According to excerpts from the article:

Ian Scott said he felt just like an astronaut hurtling through space Thursday.

Ian, who is going into sixth grade at Okemos' Kinawa Middle School, had taken a ride on a life-sized hovercraft made out of a tabletop and chair and powered by a vacuum.

"You feel weightless, like you're in space," he said. "It's like a roller coaster."

He joined 256 other children from the tri-county area in getting a close-up look at science this week at the Michigan State University Kids College.
