Thirty Everett High School advanced graphic design students are creating designs and logos for numerous local businesses, including the historic Walker Tavern root beer.
According to excerpts from the article:
"Having to do something not for the teacher but for a client, it raises the stakes and makes them really want to excel," said Chad Sanders, Everett's journalism and graphic design teacher.
The kids, who market themselves as Viking Designs, right now are designing old-fashioned baseball cards for the Michigan Historical Museum's vintage baseball team.
They've also done projects for organizations that include Cristo Rey Community Center, Advent House Ministries, Girl Scouts and the Red Cross, Sanders said. They designed the wrap-around label on bottles of rootbeer from Walker Tavern, a Michigan historic site in Brooklyn, and plan to create fliers and posters for one of the tavern's upcoming historical re-enactment events.
